DR. ELIJAH M. FREEMAN  PT, DPT 

Founder

Dr. Elijah M. Freeman is an American philanthropist and physical therapist who is board certified in orthopedic physical therapy by the American Physical Therapy Association. He has over fifteen years of clinical experience and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal pain and loss of function with the goal of optimizing physical movement, nutrition and mental health to improve the human experience. Dr. Freeman is the owner of Elite Body & Mind, a company that specializes in Lifestyle Medicine and Integrative Primary Care Physiotherapy in Missoula, MT.  He is also the founder and CEO of the Institute of Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Science and has traveled to over fifty different countries as both a clinical researcher and orthopedic manual therapy instructor.

In 2006, Dr. Freeman completed his undergraduate training at CSU Fresno where he earned two bachelor’s degrees and graduated summa cum laude with a primary degree in Exercise Science and a second degree in Interdisciplinary Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA and was residency trained in orthopedics at Kaiser Permanente in West Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Freeman received advanced Fellowship training in Orthopedics at EIM and is also a graduate of the American Physical Therapy’s Home Health Advanced Competency Certification Program. He is a member in good standing with both the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists and the American Physical Therapy Association.

Since 2012, Dr. Freeman has given over one-hundred peer-reviewed scientific conference and course presentations.  His instructional experience stretches over five continents and includes countries such as the United States, Canada, Greece, Israel, Palestine, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Nepal, Peru, Spain, Poland, Ukraine, Guatemala, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. His most recent humanitarian effort was in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he spent several months during the early stages of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict providing wartime musculoskeletal triage instruction to physicians, physiotherapists and medics at the non-profit organization Revived Soldiers of Ukraine.

Dr. Freeman also possesses several specialty certifications including advanced training in orthopedic manual therapy, functional dry needling, myofascial decompression therapy, blood flow restriction therapy as well as certifications for the prescription of food as medicine for both physical illness and mental health conditions. Additionally, Dr. Freeman is also a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In 2019, the Guatemalan National Olympic team recruited Dr. Freeman to provide advanced training in the triage and treatment of non-operative musculoskeletal injuries in olympic athletes for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. In his time away from teaching and clinical work he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, hiking, fishing and hunting big game with his wife Izabela and their very lovable rescue pit-bull dog Sookie.
